Linux 2.6.29 Kernel Released; Hello KMS and Btrfs.
TuxWith much anticipation, the Linux 2.6.29 kernel was released just moments ago by Linus Torvalds. Besides introducing an interim logo to stand-in for Tux, the Linux 2.6.29 kernel most notably introduces support for kernel mode-setting on Intel hardware. Also in the graphics realm are a few updates to the Graphics Execution Manager and DRM updates for various pieces of hardware. more... and The 2.6.29 kernel is out.

Sun deal could make IBM unbeatable in Unix server market.
If IBM actually were to buy Sun Microsystems Inc., the world's largest maker of Unix servers would take over the No. 2 vendor. Unix servers may not be getting as much attention as Sun's Java and MySQL technologies are in merger-speculation land, but it is the Unix market that could put the prospective deal on the radar of regulators. more... and Sun rises on talk of IBM deal. TomTom Sues Microsoft on Patent Infringement.
Dutch navigation device maker TomTom has filed a countersuit against Microsoft Corp, accusing the U.S. company of violating three of its patents. GNOME adds native Exchange Server support.
The GNOME Project today achieved a new release of its popular desktop computing environment for Linux. HTC Promises at Least 3 More Android Phones in '09.
