We talked about how we spend our Christmas holiday Myth TV, PHP, Perl and how to bring more people to EC_LUG. I have been running Open Suse 10.2. 64 bit version for about 3 weeks. One of the think I like is that I can run it on my Intel Core 2 Duo Processor. It is pretty fast. Hardware. SanDisk wants to replace the hard drive in notebooks with flash memory, a swap that it says will make thin laptops faster and more reliable. more... Digital photography. I have been looking for Application that would replace (Windows) Capture One RAW image convector for my Canon Rebel DSLR. I have found only two semi viable options and none of them are open source. Both applications were Java based. Light Zone is unsupported and free (as beer) version of commercial version for Windows and Mac OS X. I was able to see my RAW images add do most of image adjustments. I will try to learn it better before getting rid of Capture One. Very promising. RawView is somehow outdated demo program for Java RAW manipulation library. I was able to view images and do the slide show with unprocessed images. It had Java based NetZero installer. New Ubuntu Feisty Fawn 07.04 is scheduled to be released in 19-APR-07. New EXT4 file system supports file system encryption Reiser FS is loosing out.
See you next week. EC_LUG |
