Lenovo to Present
More
Linux-pre-loaded Laptops. Lenovo was reported to plan to launch a
full array of laptops pre-loading Novell's Linux operating system, to
provide wider product options for consumers to choose from, according
to sources. The demands for Linux system-built-in computers have been
in the rise since this year, in the fields like education, government

Intuit joins the
Linux revolution. Intuit has been sniffing around open
source for at least a year now, but predominately as a platform
(Linux) upon which its applications could run. It opened the door a
bit more in April when it opened up QuickBase to developers, but now
seems to be paving the way for a more complete launch into open
source with its Linux Business Resource Center. more... and Linux Business

Will LSB 4
Standardize Linux? Not all Linux distributions are made

Why Free Software
has poor

tends to suck”. The best open source applications and operating
systems are more usable now than they were then. But this is largely
from slow incremental improvements, and low-level competition between
projects and distributors. Major problems with the design process
itself remain largely unfixed. more...

QBrew: Home-brewed
software for home
brewers. When I'm not hacking or writing about
hacking, I'm brewing beer. When I say I'm brewing beer, I don't mean
that I'm taking some syrupy stuff and adding it to boiling water and
hoping for the best. I mean I'm buying various types of grains,
various types of hops, some yeast, and potentially some other
additives to help balance my brewing water or the pH levels at some
point in my brewing process. more...
